Pattaya New Year: Fireworks, Traffic, and What to Book

Pattaya New Year is one of the biggest nights in Thailand. Fireworks over the bay, Beach Road packed, hotel rates that jump. If you plan it, it is a good night. If you do not, you can spend midnight in a car on Sukhumvit.

The Traffic Is the Real Problem

Beach Road and the roads into central Pattaya jam from late afternoon. In bad years cars stop from 8pm. People sit for three or four hours and watch fireworks from the driver’s seat.

If you want to be near the display at midnight: arrive before 6pm and stay on foot, or sleep within walking distance of a viewpoint so you never need a car.

Where to Watch

Main display: over the bay, from Beach Road and the pier. Pattaya Countdown packs Walking Street and central Beach Road.

Pratumnak Hill is quieter. From the high points you still see the bay. Different night: less crush.

Jomtien runs its own countdown and is less jammed than the centre.

1 January Breakfast
